Substitutions:
The glorious part of making stir fry is all of the new ways to prepare it. With endless amounts of substitutions, there are lots of ways to prepare this particular recipe which is why this is one of my favorite meals.
Onions. Green Onions would be a great swap for regular onions, giving your dish a mild onion flavor that isn’t overpowering.
Vegetables. Bell peppers, mushrooms corn, baby corn, bean sprouts, or whatever you like or have on hand should go in!
Stir Fry Sauce. There are many options in the grocery stores. This teriyaki sauce is a great addition, bursting with flavors from the ginger and soy sauce. However, creating your sauce would not be difficult. If you combine soy sauce, sesame oil, fresh ginger, garlic cloves, and some corn starch to help thicken, homemade stir-fry sauce is ready!
Rice noodles, cooked noodles, egg noodles, or lo mein noodles are great alternatives instead of rice.
Equipment Needed:
Large Skillet
Soup pan to cook rice

Protein Choices Stir Fry
We are a hunting family, so there is always wild game in the freezer. My favorite way to prepare this meal is with ground venison. It is a very lean meat and does not taste gamey at all. If you don’t have ground venison, venison steaks cut into very thin strips would taste amazing! If you don’t have this option, ground beef, chicken, turkey or even breakfast sausage would be great alternatives.
How to Make Easy Ground Venison Stir Fry Recipe
To start, heat your large skillet over medium high heat, and add a tablespoon of olive oil or peanut oil. Add the diced onion and add a pinch of salt, and allow to cook for about 5 minutes, or until the onion starts to soften.
Add the deer meat, and cook until no longer pink.
While the meat is cooking, prepare the vegetables. This recipe calls for carrots, broccoli, and zucchini. However, add whatever is in season. These vegetables came straight from the garden. To help the vegetables cook faster, I used a grater to thinly slice them. If you have a mandolin, that would work even better!
Add the vegetables to the skillet. To help the vegetables cook faster, cover the pan. This will make the vegetables sweat more, allowing them to cook within a couple minutes. After the vegetables have cooked for a few minutes, add the cooked rice and broccoli, and cover again. Let cook until the broccoli is al dente.
Add the teriyaki sauce. This sauce is SO good. You can add as little or as much as you would like. If you like your meals on the spicer side, add some red pepper flakes at the same time as the sauce.
Continue cooking until everything is covered in the teriyaki sauce.
